Agarwood and the Benefits of Agarwood


   Agarwood or also referred as Oud, Oudh, Aloeswood, Gaharu and other names is known as dark resinous heartwood valued in a variety of cultures. This dark resinous comes from large evergreens native to Southeast Asia, notably Aquilaria and Gyrinops.

  Agarwood comes from the trees those are infected by a kind of mold. Before the infection happens, the heartwood will be odorless and has the light or pale color. As the infection progresses, the tree becomes able to produce the dark and aromatic resin that will make the heartwood darker as the dark resin embedded to it.

The Variety Usages of Agarwood

  Agarwood is being searched by many people mainly the people in Arab. Naturally, this happens because of reasons. Agarwood has become a part of culture in Arab and there are plenty of agarwood uses in Arab. For the starter, the odor that comes out from agarwood is what many people expect to get. Many of the agarwood chunks are being used as incense. They will be burn for the aromatic scent and used for particular therapies.   

  The heartwood can also be used to craft a variety of items such as beads those can be stringed together to get a bracelet, necklace or the prayer beads.

  The wood chunks are not the only ones valued. For most of the time, a lot of people are searching high quality agarwood oil as medicine. This is the oil that is produced from the distillation of the dark resin of the agarwood. The essential oil is being offered in variety grades depending on the length of the distillation process. The oil can be used or various purposes such as:

·  Pain reliever that can be used along with other essential oil such as the jojoba oil or coconut oil. Use the mixture of these oils as massage oils to relieve the pain.

·   Reliever to rheumatism with the similar way to the one mentioned above. This can be done regularly to relief the rheumatic.

·  Helping the mind to stay focus and positive. Users can simply inhale the scent directly or diffuse it a little bit. It can help the mind to relax and thus leads people to sleep easier at night.

·  The agarwood healing properties help the skin to repair the damaged skin cells as well as fight the damage caused by free radicals those come in contact with the skin every day.
